Description of Activity
- The teacher will split the class into five different groups to learn about wages/hours, treatment, job conditions, why children were in child labor, and children’s health. There is a PDF file with this content. To prepare divide the packet into sections to give each group one section. Then the groups should read through their content sheet to learn all about their topic related to child labor and work-life. This would also be a great place to include literacy by giving students books to research as well. Once students have learned about their topic they will teach/present it anyway they would like. They could create a mini poster, use the whiteboard, etc.
(The content varies in academic level so you could chose the appropriate content for the different groups based on their instructional level.)
Assessment
Formative assessment: students will teach the class about their topic related to child labor including the main ideas in their mini lesson.
